Obama is wrong on two important fronts…I am now voting for Ron Paul if he gets the nod

Obama has made a grave error. He has let the cat out of the bag where our military deployment is concerned. Granted, we have many thousands of soldiers home now and if not re deployed elsewere, they will be on the job market here at home, or on the streets like the Viet Nam vets. So the obvious answer is to find a new place to send them. Not to war, just to oversee a region. Naturally Eastern and Southeastern Asia comes to mind. But to announce the plan to deploy more soldiers to Australia, Japan, Korea, and other willing nations in the area to offset the dominance of China is just a damn fool slip of the lip. Why did he say such a stupid thing? So far, we have been trading with China and have borrowed billions and billions of dollars from them to run our stupid war in Iraq and our stupid war in Afghanistan. Great! We got Osama and Saddam…now bring the soldiers home and re deploy…..but NOT to defend against China as an enemy in trade or otherwise. Even if that is the ultimate truth, it should not have been said in so many words. Far better to say that we are worried about the stability of the region because of North Korea. That is a simple and true statment and would have kept the fat out of the fire for a bit longer. Of course North Korea is China’s laptop pit bull, but diplomacy is the far better plan here and I for one am now concerned about getting all our medicine from China…like we are doing at this very minute. What the Hell! Obama..you put your foot in it!

Fuck up number two! He is ok with arresting American citizens like you or me without due process, no smoking gun, no body, no real accusation…and then detaining such citizens indefinitely. What happens to our civil rights. A jury of our peers? Swift justice? Is he trying to become a dictator? Does he want me thrown in jail because I disagree with Citizens United or want our wars to be approved by congress, or that I want our military uncoupled from corporate America? I voted for your ass dude …now do you want me to be thrown in jail because I disagree with you? Can you just send someone to knock down my door and haul my butt to jail without a trial. Guess so…..gee, I thought this was America the Free! Guess again……………….

Oh…by the way, the link to Art13.com is now down. My paintings can be seen throughout the earlier postings on this blog and I will eventually get around to putting up a new website..but with the economy so bad and no one actually trying to buy new houses and paintings to hang in their new houses..its a waste of time. When I was a kid growing up in the 1960s I was aghast at the Viet Nam war. I had been convinced that we were a great and true country and then got the shock of my life when we sent our young men (my classmates) off to fight a useless war. I had seen many movies and documentaries about Hitler and the War to end all Wars and the idea that we were trying to fight a war in a country that had very little to do with us made no sense to me.

Fast forward to the obvious degradation of our beautiful environment, the smog, the filthy shit being dumped into lakes and streams and I began to lose hope. News flash folks, the west has no real natural trout streams anymore, and has not had such for 60 years. When I was just 10 I found out the Wyoming game and fish raised millions of rainbow trout in fish hatcheries and in the early spring would go out to the streams all over the state and dump them in so that fishermen could go catch them after they grew to pan size. WTF? was my burning question. Where have all the flowers gone? Hell…were did all the fishes go? We ate them up one by one darling readers. The last of the real natural world is disappearing under our boots and we are allowing giant global corporations access to all our remaining resources so they can ship material off to Asia to be made into cheap goods for us to buy when we can afford it. And for this, the CEOs of such rapist corporations are sstealing us blind while hypnotizing everyone with huge TV campaigns to go buy more shit.

Now the Republicans are trying to squeeze back into office by the squadrons and storms so that they can steal more of our resources. “Global Economy” shit…”Global Givaway” is what the deal is.

Meanwhile, our poor wounded vetrans come home sick and injured and are treated like shit! Denied their health care and shoved out of the good jobs that they should have given the training that they persue on the GI Bill…but we are not hiring them because our economy is in the shitter because of the wars we waged in Iraq.
Now Obama is turning our attention to the YELLOW PERIL….so that he can slip away from the muddled middle east, with perhaps a bait and switch approach.
I still think Obama is the better option, but if a real old fashioned conservationist with a platform of clean energy and clean up our disasterous chemical waste dumps came up for a vote. I would go for that cantidate in a heartbeat.

What is wrong with this picture? We keep on buying more than just necessities of life, we purchase stuff from big corporations and they screw us all by manufacturing this stuff overseas while at home, we are a nation of unemployed folks going into debt. What is happening to the money we have to pay in taxes? Well, for one, two wars are adding to the huge deficit our nation is trying to crawl out from under. For two, the taxes the huge corporations are supposed to pay..do not get paid because loopholes provide shelter from the taxes that they should be paying (these noble job providers) and they locate their corporate headquarters in other countries as a good way to dodge their responsabilites here in the USA. So what to do..? what to do?
Here is a thought…move your money to good credit unions (I did that 40 years ago) for starters. Number two..stop buying from big corporations whenever you can find a smaller provider. I stopped buying Bayer aspirin and buy Anicin for instance.I dont think anicin is part of such a huge corporation (I may be wrong) and I will search again for aspirin that is from a smaller source. I shop for clothes at thrift stores and garage sales rather than Macy’s pr even Target. I buy my gas at Safeway instead of Shell or Exxon but I am sure Safeway gets the gas from an evil corporation. Safeway is pretty bad as it is, so I do not buy my groceries there whenever I can buy from a local farmer or bee keeper ..I grew a huge garden this year and gave most of the produce to the local food bank. If I get short of money this winter I will go back to the same food bank and get food for me and my students that live with me (international students that pay rent that pays my mortgage)…Stop driving your car so much..take the bus or car pool to the grocery store with your neighbors.
Work like mad to get your credit clean and good, but once you have great credit..dont use it. Use cash or your credit union debit card. Save money at your credit union and clamp down on spending on anything corporate. Stop buying goods from China. Try Try Try. If we as the 99% get busy with boycotts, Wall Street will sit up and take notice. Tell your representatives in congress what you are doing. Blog about it. Tell your friends and family how to put the squeeze on corporate America. You can accomplish much by speaking out. And yes, go carry a sign about stopping the wars and changing the law about corporations being people. That law must be repealed!

How to survive a heat wave without air conditioning.

I spent twenty five years in Chicago in summers that ran into triple digits many days….with 90% humidity. We often did not have air conditioning because the house had small windows and poor ventilation. We used big box fans and on the hottest days we soaked our outer clothing in cold water and wore wet clothes all day long. My car had no AC and driving in 105 degrees was a nightmare unless we stripped down to shorts and t shirt and kept them soaking wet. We also carried old windex bottles full of cold water and spritzed our faces, ears, hands, and feet. We kept cool and survived. We even took long trips out to visit family in Wyoming thru blazing days across the interstate in South Dakota. We kept a cooler full of bags of ice in the trunk and added small pieces of ice to our squirt bottles. It also helps alot to dunk your head in water to keep cool. The worst time is nights when the temp still hovers in the upper 90s. To sleep, throw towels on your bed and soak your t shirt and shorts in cold water and put them on. Put a fan in the room if you have one and you can sleep cooler than you might imagine.Be sure you drink enough liquid to keep hydrated but soaking your clothes down will keep you cool enough that you wont sweat all your moisture away.

If our government and the people it governs do not wake up and smell the gavel dust, we are doomed to be ruled completely by giant worldwide corporations. They (corporations ) now enjoy the rights that flesh and blood people are given by the constitution. This is crazy…actually beyond crazy…it is criminal. That the court could do such a terrible thing to our country is just insane and criminal. Now corporate heads who are not citizens of this country can have a huge say in who is elected to public office, simply by throwing money into the mix. When corporations rule a country, it is no longer a democracy!This is creeping fascism!

Nuclear Power is obviously not safe nor clean. Wake up and smell the plutonium!

What puzzles me is that the Japanese, the folks that have the worst radiation experience in the whole world have built nuclear plants all over their small, earthquake and tsunami prone country. How did they not see the dark cloud that accompanies such technology. The fail safe systems were built by engineers with stubby little imaginations. Perhaps they should have consulted with folks who have vivid, active imaginations and who can see problems BEFORE they occur. Maybe they could have consulted artists, writers, poets, ect…at least some experts in forseeing disatsters. Why did the nuke plant have suck short lived batteries? The battery in any Prius would have been better than what was sitting there in that nuke plant as a “fail safe backup plan” I am sure this has to do with corrupt officials kicking the can down the road. This world will not die as a result of a “BIG BANG”…we will destroy it by the “death of a thousand cuts” and that is just sad and wrong. God gave us a pretty nice home and we are horrible tenants. We sweep shit under the rug, throw waste into our drinking water, and kill off the bees that pollinate our food..just for starters. I am sad for my grandbabies. I do not see a bright clean future waiting round the bend for them. Obama is not doing even a small percentage of what he promised. He is still forking over money for coal and oil and is proposing big tax breaks for new Nuke plants. I want a new president..not a Republican or a Democrat.Maybe someone like Ralph Nader. I voted enthusiastically for Obama because I thought he would push back against the super rich Republican grab and rip corporate pigs and get our nation back on track, doing the right and logical work the world expects of us. I expected him to stand up to big oil, big dirty coal, and greedy bank execs out to rape the whole damned country. But he folded like a cheap suit! Talked tough to BP and then let the back door stand open while the sneaky fat cats grabbed their fill and left the poor boys to suck mud.

Has he stood up and railed against dirty coal? Not so. He has let that mountaintop attack slide onto the back burner while he wrangles about how to talk to mideastern despots. (better not to even speak to them at all) after all, we can do nothing about their government when we fail to govern the US with any real dignity. Corruption is rampant in the halls of congress. Obama is so determined to get re elected he refused to stand his ground (the peoples ground) and tax the stinking filthy rich to help out the infrastructure that is crumbling, the schools that are suffering, and local governments that cant pay their firemen, let alone the retirement paid for by public employees that worked in their jobs for many year. Big bankers dole out billions to their top execs that are not worth a dime for the self-serving work they do. This money should be confiscated immediately and put back into a fund to help those who are struggling to pay their legitimate mortgages (not the trickster ones that are already tits up) but mortgage given to hard working folks that had jobs before the bubble burst. By the way…when the bubble started to leak, these banks should NOT have forclosed so quickly, but rather could have continued taking the sub prime money for several more years, raising the payment only in very small increments over a period of say 10 years. That might not have given the banks big profit, nor would the creditors in China have been pleased, but we would still be a country on our feet with functioning city governments with a real estate tax base that could get things done. How stupid are our governors? Here in Washington state Gov. Gregoire is pushing to get a ridiculous tunnel bored under the city to alleviate traffic from the Port and West Seattle…ect…This is going to be another BIG DIG with no end in sight. Far better she could back a nice suspension bridge across the front of the city that would grace the waterfront and be a boon to traffic and tourism as well. I am sick of this Obamanation and I spit on his chicken shit hands. Here is How Obama Failed Us All and Gave the Right Wing An Open Door!

Lets go back to the first 6 months Obama was in office. The Bush Cheney wars were breaking the country and we were headed for disaster. The big banks were poised to fail because the greed of the mortgage industry had set up so many shaky loans that were ready to adjust payments upward by at least one third. Wall Street and the banking industry could see disaster from their overstuffed offices and things were looking pretty damned serious. The whole country was in for a train wreck of major scale! What to do? What ever to do?

Obama agreed with Bush and his financial whiz kids that a big bailout was in order. It was a good idea in a way. If it had been carefully thought out instead of thrown into the wind, it would have worked out fine. How’s that you ask? Here is what should have happened: Obama could have told the big dirty dozen banks that they could have the 7 billion PROVIDED they take half of the money and use it to lend to small businesses, and the rest to calm their creditors. ALSO they could nNOT allow the tricky sneaky assed mortgages to adjust upward for at LEAST two more years. Then after the two year period, they could adjust upward by 5% per year for the next few years until the payments fell in line with the real cost of the property. This would have allowed the air to leak ever so slowly out of the housing bubble instead of the giant crash that we have on our hands today.Those folks who just could not keep up their payments eventually would have to sell or give their house back to the bank. But alas, he listened to bank lobbyists and the likes of Larry Summers and the whole thing collapsed. How is it that he could not see the simple solution? Simple…he was too busy trying to make the freaks in Washington happy with him.

I think he is probably a very nice man and he meant well, but lacks the guts of a man like FDR or Truman. He needs to grow a pair and use the filibuster, and the power of the executive bully pulpet to kick some ass. He had a mandate and a majority in both house and senate, but he did not insist on a good solid plan.

Another area he could have done better on was the energy problem. Stimulus money that was forked out did not land in the right places. More should have gone to clean energy projects like wind and solar and serious infrastructure public works like bridges and levees and serious pollution clean ups like coal slurry and leaking landfills. We need to get busy on our own land and stop sending great piles of money out of the country. Stop the wars, bring the troops home, and put them to work building a better America. If we leave the Muslim world to sort out their own affairs, I do believe they will stop trying to murder us and I do not give a crap if they murder one another. We do need to protect Saudi Arabia, as we promised years and years ago, but Europe can work out how to deal with Africa and the rest of the mess. We have our own problems here in this hemisphere and need to stop sticking our noses in before letting the rest of the world do their part. I am a bit of an isolationist but we need to stop acting like a glad handing drunk at the party, buying rounds for everyone and not thinking about the wife and kids at home………………….
